Romanian Quartet Performs to Sell Out Crowd at Emerald Theatre

By Tracy Moro

The Amadeus Electric String Quartet performed Friday, December 22, 2023 in front of a sell-out crowd at the Emerald Theatre in downtown Mount Clemens. Their amazing Christmas show was both entertaining and interactive bringing the entire crowd together enjoying their original pieces, classics and holiday carols.

Adding and probably stealing the first half of the show was local student Duncan Klotz, 13, of Clinton Township, who performed on Snare Drum for the Little Drummer Boy. All eyes were on Duncan as he marched through the audience toward the stage keeping beat with the tune. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd as he and the quartet finished performing the Little Drummer Boy on stage.

The second half proved even more spectacular with the addition of the Junior Choir of the Macomb Youth Chorus. They silently snuck in behind the quartet while they were performing Silent Night, later joining them singing the chorus plus a handful of additional Christmas carols finishing the show on a magical note.

This was the fifth appearance for the quartet in the metro Detroit area, along with recent shows on Detroit PBS proving that the quartet has a huge following in southeast Michigan with folks anxious for them to return.  Since creating this following in southeast Michigan last year, Amadeus has continued to impress and capture audiences with their unique rhythm and sounds not to mention their beauty and ability to charm all ages.
